Once the hirer accepts and signs for a concrete crusher, liability for that machine is passed over to the hirer (under the CPA’s Model Conditions For The Hiring Of Plant). An example would be that if the machine were to be stolen during the hire period, the hirer would be liable not only for the cost of the stolen machine but also for lost revenue in the form of hires, for the period during which the owner is without a machine.
